Turbo Mac Cleaner ("the app") is designed so that your data stays on your Mac. This policy explains what the app accesses, what it does not, and the one optional feature that contacts an external service.
1. Information we do not collect
The app has no accounts, no analytics, and no telemetry. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal information, usage data, or the contents of your files. There is no server operated by us that your file data is sent to.
2. Files and folders on your Mac
Turbo Mac Cleaner runs inside Apple's App Sandbox. It can only access a folder you explicitly grant through the system file picker — specifically, your Home folder. Within that folder it:
- enumerates directories and measures their sizes and file counts to identify reclaimable caches and build artifacts;
- moves items you select to the Trash (it does not permanently delete them);
- never reads, copies, transmits, or uploads the contents of your files.
The access you grant is stored locally on your device as an Apple security-scoped bookmark so you don't have to re-grant it each launch. It is never shared.
3. Optional "AI Explain" feature
The app includes an optional feature that explains what a given folder or file is. It is disabled until you provide your own OpenAI-compatible API endpoint and key in Settings. When you tap the ✨ button on an item, the app sends only that item's name and path (for example, ~/Library/Caches/Homebrew) to the AI provider you configured. It does not send the contents of any file.
If you enable this feature, your request is handled by the third-party AI provider whose endpoint and key you entered, under that provider's own privacy policy. We are not party to that exchange and do not receive a copy of it. If you never configure an API key, the app makes no network requests for this feature.
4. Network access
The only outbound network connection the app makes is the optional AI Explain request described above, directed to the endpoint you configure. The app does not contact any service operated by the developer.
5. Children's privacy
The app is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
6. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
